Beer: Rock Bottom Taps Belgian Tripel

Just noticed over on the events page at Indiana Beer that Rock Bottom apparently had a tapping party for a Belgian Tripel last night. I usually keep up-to-date on these tappings from their email newsletters and occasionally checking out their webpage. I never saw anything -- must have been a double-secret tapping.

In any case, I'm very curious to try it out. A Belgian Tripel is pretty far outside the brewing norm for Rock Bottom, so I wonder how it turned out.

For reference, their next tapping is something called "Sub Zero" on Wednesday, February 6th.

I spoke with Jerry at the tapping last night and apparently they are in between regional marketing people, which is why the website was not updated with the tapping info. It was on the chalkboard, which is how I knew about it. Also, since it's not on their website, they are having a Brewer's Dinner on Feb. 5. No menu yet...

I enjoyed the Trouble, but I'm pretty easy to please with tripels and I'm also a fan of Jerry's style. It weighs in around 8.6% ABV and has that familiar candi sugar fruitiness. He brewed a similar tripel around this time last year too if I recall correctly. I seem to remember Sub-Zero being a barley wine, but my memory might be off...

The northside location is having a tapping of "Organic Tree Hugger Ale" on Wednesday, January the 16th. There's a fancy organic/locavore dinner to follow. The email that mentioned this tapping states that the Belgian Trippel is on tap, but I too saw nothing about a tapping party.

Thanks for the info guys. I've only gone to one Brewer's Dinner and it was a good time. Maybe I'll try to hit this one.
