I just came across some information about an Indiana blogging Unconference called BlogIN 2008. The event will be held at IUPUI on Saturday, April 26th. Here's their promotional blurb:
Anyone interested in learning more about how to blog, why to blog and meet other bloggers should attend Smaller Indiana’s BlogIN on April 26, 2008. Bloggers from around the state will share best practices, tips, tools, case studies, and strategies for successful blogging. Whether you are an experienced blogger or a blogging beginner, join us for an afternoon as we explore blogging as a tool to build community, culture and commerce in Indiana.
Cost to attend is $10 for IUPUI students and $20 for everyone else. Register here.

I was interested to see if anyone from the Dev Blogs went to the BlogMOB face 2 face event on the Circle today. Might have been an interesting experience.
I didn't even know that was happening until I saw it on the Star website! Good publicity stunt.
There was a meet/tour last summer through Skyscraper City but I couldn't make it (I think 6 people met up). I met Kevin (he writes Urban Indy) at an IHPC meeting one time and I know Jason (writes Circles & Squares and co-writes Hoosier Beer Geek) through beer events. Maybe Skyscraper City people will do another meet/tour this summer.
I was planning on attending this event, btw. If anyone wants to come meet.
I'm all for another SSC meetup, but would prefer a date in June, when we can more reliably get good weather for walking around to check things out.
Unfortunately I'm going to Dark Lord Day at Three Floyds next Saturday so I won't be able to hit this conference. In picking between my interests, the event that represents the one day a year I can get one of the best beers in the world definitely wins!
Another SSC meetup would be cool. I'll put something up on SSC later (it seems to be down....again) but for now I put together a doodle page to help pick a day/time. Vote here.
I'm going to throw out my opinion here, even though it may be unpopular.
I think the idea to charging people, even as little as $20, to listen to unprofessional people talk about their blogging experiences is kind of counter-productive. Blogging is about everyone having a voice. It doesn't matter if you have an English major, a background in journalism, or just really like a local sports team. Everyone gets an equal say. An effort to create a forum of these free speech peers and then charge them money to allow them to speak to each other is hurting us more than helping us. Why can't we just communicate our best practices and experiences through the blog community, why do we have to pay $20 to do this? Whether it is $5 or $1500, the point is that blogging is about the free exchange of ideas and the promotion of the concept of everyone having a voice.
Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but this event rubs me the wrong way and I just wanted to get this off my chest.
I see your point Rod. I guess I'm not really peeved by the charge unless someone is profiting from it, and who knows where the money is actually going. The charge may go to a facility rental fee or snacks & drinks or any number of things.
In any case, I agree with your "spirit of free blogging" thesis.
