This n' That

Indiana Microbrewer's Festival: I was just looking at the festival webpage -- mark your calendars: it's Saturday, July 19th -- and I noticed this line:

Food by BadaBoomz, Hogshead BBQ, and Yats

Hmmm....BadaBoomz is now J. Gumbo's and serves the exact same food as Yats. I wonder if that's going to be a little sticky. (and not like the defunct BadaBoomz Burger.)

Zing: the tiny, mostly useless, but still kinda cool looking balcony right at the point of the building that will house Zing is now gone. I don't have a picture of what it looks like now, but here's an old photo. I should have some photos as they start to put the new balcony on the building.

BJ's Brewhouse: Indiana's newest brew pub chain is now open in Greenwood. No beer is brewed on site; instead they're bringing the beer over from RENO! That goes against the locally-brewed concept of most brew pubs (and it certainly ain't green). Check out Matt's review here.

Brugge Brasserie: if the rumors are true, the upstairs expansion should be open soon. It might be coincidence, but it seems like there's a never-ending tour route up there every time I'm there for a beer. Rod and Jess have photos of the new sign on the balcony here.

And speaking of Brugge, where's the new Brugge Beer webpage?

Wow that new signage at the Brugge Brasserie looks amazing! With that upstairs being added, my only real complaint about Brugges may finally be alleviated. That being it was usually very crowded if you just wanted to stop by for a pint or two on a weekend evening.

I have to say I am pretty disappointed to hear that BJ's Brewhouse is shipping beer from the other side of the country. It seems like Indy is starting to get crowded with brewpubs, but the overwhelming majority are chains. I worry that trend my prevent any future local brand of brewpub from setting up shop as they don't want to compete with the national chains. When it comes to the local brewpubs, I frequent Brugges, Broadripple Brewing and Oaken Barrel. Anyway.. totally off topic. :-)

I agree with you strongly generik. I was under the impression that BJ's would be brewing onsite.

I hope that would give someone more fuel to open up a local brewpub to go up against the chains. If I had the cash or the partners I would certainly try, but my dream isn't for a brew pub, but a packaging beer company.

If I knew you were going to link to them, I wouldn't have deleted my higher resolution originals. Now I guess you'll have to actually visit during the daytime to see them in their full glory...
