Project AnnouncementWhat about all the dirty work in-between? That’s where DIG-B comes in. I attempt to follow as many projects as possible -- focusing primarily on the downtown Indianapolis area -- providing photographic updates of the construction progress.

Wow... that's some major progress made on the clean-up in just about 1 month! Very glad to see how quickly this project appears to be getting back on track.
Yeah, I'm encouraged by the speed of the cleanup. When you consider the several days it took to finally put out the fire and complete the arson investigation, plus a period of evaluation by Flaherty & Collins, all the cleanup really took place in about two weeks.
I've been trying to come up with a guesstimate as to when they might reopen. The first pieces of the project were to open in May, which is about 7 months from the October status photo I have up. If you figure the current status is now roughly similar to the October status, then you could assume they will recomplete the project about 7 months from now. That would be November-ish. That's probably overly optimistic, though, especially considering that a pretty sizable chunk of the main building was damaged and will have to be rebuilt. I'm guessing they could be done in early 2010.
I've said this in other locations, but I'm really curious about the retail section at Senate/Michigan. That was pretty much untouched by the fire so I wonder if they could open that sooner than the other sections that will be rebuilt.
