That's an awesome picture, Chris. The Visitors and Conventions Bureau ought to snap that up and pay you for it.

Thanks Jim -- sometimes I get lucky!

Did you tripod this shot, or do it me style and use a utility pole?

I have a crappy mini tripod that rides around in my backpack and almost never gets used. I did pull it out for the shots I got on this night though. Even with the tripod, about half the photos came out just slightly blurry. I blame the tripod (but maybe I should blame myself!).

Is this a parking garage shot? Some of the best (and most unusual) views in town are from the garages downtown.

Yeah, from the Indy Star parking garage (or the one right next to the Indy Star, if they don't own that garage).

It was a pain riding my bike all the way to the top (it's 7 stories, I think, but it seemed like 14). Agreed about viewing from garages -- I was surprised how great everything looked when I popped to the top of the garage. The One Indiana Square was particularly bold. The photo of it from last week was taken from another corner of the Star garage but it doesn't really capture how cool it looked.

For all the work getting up, coasting down was fun when I was done.

I've had a rash of Chinese character spam messages recently, so I've elected to turn on word verification for comments.

I agree, parking garages can give you many different great views of downtown. You can get some great views of the Wholesale District from that parking garage next to Roberts and Union Station on Meridian Street.
