New DIG-B Layout

So, obviously the new layout went "live" yesterday, and those with a keen eye will have noticed that I subtly tweaked other features over the last day or so as well.  I think the photos look a million times better in this format and I hope you agree.  Just to say again, the standard now is for photos to have a width of 640 pixels and clicking on the photo brings up a separate, larger image with a width of 1024 pixels.

Anybody have any comments, suggestions or scathing reviews they'd like to send my way?

Aside: my wife just started a new blog about her cooking, so here's a shameless plug to take a look and let her know what you think.

Looks very nice and you are right, the photos look fantastic. What kind of camera do you use? I wish I could get pictures that crisp for my blog. I just ordered a Gorillapod this week to hopefully get rid of blurry photos, but I think a good camera upgrade may be in my future as well.

Nice look - I should get you to redesign my blog.

I just use a Canon 3.2MP point and shoot that's a couple years old. It's actually pretty finicky with outdoor shots. Sometimes they come out great like several photos on the Maxwell post, sometimes they come out all washed out, especially when it's a hazy day.

Honestly, I really don't know what I'm doing. I keep saying I should take a photography class -- or maybe at least read the manual for my camera -- but I never get around to it.

I'm with U-phile. I'll buy you a beer of your choice if you can make my page look less lame.

You guys give me too much credit! Most of the highly visible changes I made are incredibly easy. I just googled "blogger.com" and whatever change I wanted to do, like "change column width." Column width is controlled by ONE number in the layout.

I found that the most difficult thing about changing the layout was getting over my fear of changing the layout. That's really easy if you set up a dummy blog and just start messing around with stuff you find on google. If you screw it up, no big deal.

You know, DIG-B, I am a professional web designer, and I have not taken the time to mess with my layout. Then again, I've only posted once in the past two months but still. This layout is just about perfect for the blog. It's wide for the photos and content, and clean and uncluttered. The bigger, unbordered logo looks a lot better too. My offer still stands though if you would like a graphical logo designed(gratis).

I like the look too. Nice work.

I agree. The logo is really sweet. I definitely like the wider layout too. Haven't had the chance to play around with mine in awhile but I may lean on you for some ideas once I get back to it.
